European Languages Day 2016!

Celebrating Europe in style…

On Friday 30th September, Key Stage 1 celebrated European Languages Day with a whistle-stop tour of Greece, France and Spain. Throughout the day, the children worked in mixed Y1/Y2 groups and visited the three European destinations, right here in the heart of St. Andrews- where they had their passports stamped!

In Y2 Rainbows, Mr Halstead and Mrs Mason brought Greece to life with Greek art- the children made some beautiful, intricately designed vases, whilst listening to a selection of Greek music.

In Y2 Sunshines, Mrs Harrild and Mrs Connolly was in pretty Paris! The children learnt some basic French greetings and even managed to sing the famous rhyme- Frere Jacques!

In Y1, Miss Hughes and Miss Jackson were in the very sunny Espanol! The children learnt how to sing the action song: Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes in Spanish! Once the  children had warmed-up, they then learnt how to dance a traditional flamenco routine to the popular Andre Rieu’s- Paso Doble.                                                              (I have to say the  children were fantastic and we definitely have some flamenco dancers in the making!)

We all had a wonderful day finding out about the different countries and their traditions.

Well done Key Stage 1!
