Good morning 🙂 I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! I have decided to focus on shape activities this week…

For this activity your child can explore your home and find different shaped objects. If your child is confident with 2D shapes, you could look for 3D shapes. For example, a ball isn’t a circle it is a sphere, a box could be a cube or cuboid. If you need some help on 3D shapes there’s lots of information online. Please explain that 2D shapes are flat and 3D shapes are chunky.

For phonics log onto Phonics Play again and play dragons den please.

Please let your child choose a story of their choice, read the story and then discuss the pictures. Ask children to find things that you can see in the book. You could also question children about initial sounds, “Find something in the picture that begins with…”.

Another activity that children like to do is shape printing. Find things around the home which you can print with such as building blocks. To make the activity more difficult you could print a picture such as a house using various types of shapes.

I hope these activities are useful, have a fabulous day.
