St Andrews is a Young Carers Champion School!

This week we have had some fantastic news – our school has been presented with the ‘Young Carers Champion School’ award in recognition for the commitment all the staff have towards identifying and supporting young carers in our school.

A young carer is anyone under 18 who helps look after a relative who has a condition, such as a disability, illness, mental health condition, or a drug or alcohol problem. Being a young carer can be challenging at times and at St Andrews, we are committed to ensuring that any  young carers identified at our school are given additional support to enable them to reach their learning potential and to ensure that any emotional and practical needs are addressed. If you think you are a young carer, or think you know someone who is, do contact me, Grace, at school, so that I can see what support we can offer.
