Firstly – a HUGE thank you to the governors, parents and carers who came to the Rainbow Flag Coffee Morning on Friday. We had some fascinating discussions and are very grateful to Rachel Williams, from the Proud Trust, for joining us. Many of the parents said that they had found it really useful and had helped them understand more about Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT) identities. Many said that they would like another coffee morning like this, so we will plan one for the Spring/Summer term
Our school is committed to ensuring that everyone in our school family – children, parents, carers, staff, governors and so on – feel included, valued and welcomed. This is the main reason we are working towards the Rainbow Flag Award. It is important that everyone feels able to be who they feel they are, without discrimination or prejudice.
We all come with different identities – such as ethnicity, religion and gender. The Rainbow Flag Award is about ensuring that everyone in our school family is valued and that LGBT+ identities are to be recognised, accepted and celebrated alongside every other way in which we identify ourselves.
If anyone wishes to discuss this, please do contact Grace Thomas through the school office.
