A REAL Firefighter in Y2…
This afternoon, we were fortunate enough to have a ‘real’ fireman from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service visit our classroom. Firefighter ‘Damien’ told us all about his role- we found out that fighting fires is only a small part of a firefighter’s job! Damien also helped us to understand how the fire service as developed over the years from the days of 1666 when the Great Fire struck! We learnt that if we wanted to be a firefighter when we grow up, we would have to work very hard and train for 3 and 1/2 half years!
Damien brought in his different fire uniforms to show us and even let us hold his kit- take a look at the pictures below.
We had a fun, interesting afternoon and we found out so many fab fire facts! Mrs Gomm and Mrs Mason certainly think they have some budding, next generation firefighters in the making!
All that is left to say is… THANK YOU DAMIEN!
