We have this weeks challenges based on activities inspired by ‘Aliens love underpants’.
The children were reaffirming their knowledge on repeating patterns by creating underpants using printing.
Creating patterns using shapes printers, sparked an interest in 2D shapes. So for a fine motor activity the children had to create a triangle, square and rectangle. This got them really thinking about how many sides each of the three shapes had. They even practised their cutting skills.
For a phonics challenge the children had to see if the could rebuild the words by stirring up the Aliens silly soup. After taking out three phonemes and reading them, the children decided if they thought it was a real or a silly word. If they thought it was real they wrote it down. The children are very good at writing lists now – this is something we have been practising!
