The Wheels on the Bus
We have been following the naughty bus on his travels around London in our geography lesson.
In design technology we discovered that wheels turn on an axle. We designed our own buses and made them this week!
- Welcome Back Year 1!
It was lovely to see all the children back fresh and smiley after the sunny half term holidays.
We have been busy this week practising our phonic sounds and making block diagrams. We even made a human block diagram to show our favourite colours.

More Healthy Eating Fun!
Julie from the school health team visited us again today. She taught us more about healthy eating and a little about our organs inside our bodies.
We made healthy faces on wholemeal buns and then ate them! Yum Yum!! more
- Royal Wedding Celebrations...
On Wednesday afternoon, Year 1 and Year 2 celebrated the upcoming Royal Wedding with an arts and crafts afternoon. We first spent some time learning about the roots of our royal family and looked closely at the famous faces that we may see on our television screens this weekend!

- Healthy eating in Year 1!
Today we had a visit from Julie a school nurse. She talked to us about eating healthily and making sure we washed our hands properly. We used paint as pretend germs on our hands then had to wash our hands properly to make sure the paint all came off.
- Baptism at Church
This week we visited Walkden Methodist Church and Reverend Garfield talked to us about Baptism.
We had three families with children to be baptised. Reverend Garfield carried out the ceremony. All the children enjoyed take no part. more
- A Visit from Mr.Jones
Mr.Jones came this week to tell Year 1 all about Wales. We found lots of interesting things and all about how Wales has lots of different places to visit. Lots of places in Wales are different than Manchester such as: beaches,castles and mountains!

Year 1 have had another busy week!
In science the children have started to learn about plants and growing. As part of this topic Mr. Humphrey's took the children out into the school allotment area and planted some onion seeds.
The children are very excited to see how they grow.
