Once upon a time in a Y2 class…

This week in Y2, the children are  retelling the popular fairytale- The Gingerbread Man. The children chose this particular tale to study, after being asked which fairytale they would like to learn beforehand.

The children have thoroughly enjoyed reading the story so far and joining in with some of the repeated phrases- we have now perfected with great expression: “Run, run, as fast as you can, you can’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread Man!”

The children have orally learnt the story sequence and will be now retelling this in writing books, using the ‘key’ features of a fairytale and three-part structure (beginning, middle and end).

I know you will be incredibly impressed when you read their versions of the story on our next Parent’s Evening!
